Football Tour Opportunity
In this blog, I will talk to you about the football tour opportunity I have been given while studying at Club Doncaster Sports College and what I did to earn the opportunity.
After completing pre-season back in August 2019, we created the first women’s football team in the college’s history.
Playing football week in and week out the college this year thought it was a perfect opportunity to have the first women’s football tour.
What The Football Tour Is
Every year the college has a football tour where they take 14 students for a 4-day break to Holland in the Netherlands. The time consists of football games with sports colleges in Holland, a tour of Amsterdam and throughout great sites in Holland.
Where It Takes Place
The tour each year takes place in the Netherlands, a great touring experience for the students and staff by having Amsterdam and other great sites.

After being chosen to be 1 of 14 students to represent the college on tour, I decided to take the opportunity with both hands. I would not get another chance to have this opportunity again.
After 14 students had accepted the opportunity, the college decided to run a fundraiser to raise some money for the tour so that each student could afford the tour comfortably.
As a team, we decided to develop the idea that it is a sports-related topic of hosting a coaching session for kids to encourage young kids to take part in sport and inspire them.
As this is a big goal, Club Doncaster Sports College have always had they always want to keep sports desire in the young generation.
COVID-19 Pandemic
8 weeks later, the COVID pandemic hit, and this was a worldwide matter.
When the college had to decide that the tour could not take place due to travel restrictions and the health and safety of staff and students.
Virtual Tour
Heading into a national lockdown, the college thought, why don’t we still travel to the Utrecht Football Stadium from the Keepmoat Stadium but virtual.
All students contributed by running, cycling, walking or any physical activity.
The college made it to the Utrecht Football Stadium from the Keepmoat Stadium, covering 757km in just over one week.
Benefit Of The Virtual Tour
The benefit of this virtual tour allowed us to still train and keep our fitness up in lockdown.
Club Doncaster Sports College also provided us with many other goals to keep our fitness up during the global pandemic. We are ready for September when going back to college.
Hopefully, suppose all goes well with the COVID pandemic. In that case, the tour will go ahead in my second year, and I will have the opportunity to represent the college again.
